One of these days I'm going to fix the cylinder head oil leak on our 89 300TE (165,xxx). Have only had valve seals done once at 65K, so not sure I want to simply replace the head gasket without having the head freshened.
Every now and then I see a decent deal on a used M103 head, this would allow me to R/R the head gasket in one weekend without waiting for machine shop on current head as the replacement head would be ready to go. To the point: are all 3.0L M103 heads interchangeable? I've seen contradictions on this, between the "heart shaped" combustion chamber and the "open chamber" combustion chamber. TIA for your help! There are differences. The early heads are different from late and the 2.6 is different from the 3.0. I would get yours built and put it back on!
