93-95' E320 cabriolet numbers in US
How many of each year were imported? I know its pretty low. Body was done at Karmann correct?
What do folks think about the price of a 95' in burgundy with black top, tan interior with 38K. Yes, maybe for the wife (and me)...maybe for you? ;) |
They didn't import many and they seem to comand insane prices. What are they asking for that one mid $20k's?
|
They look absolutely beautiful in that color, it would be my favorite, for that car, and if there are books and records with the car, to verify the miles as correct, it sounds like a real find.
It won't be cheap, but will always have some appeal as a special interest car, unlike, say, the 300E. |
My friend is liquidating some cars...I can have it for much less than 20K...thinking of driving it for the summer and then selling it....or keeping it, don't know yet. I/we could only potentially drive it here in New England for 6 or 7 months (to keep it swell) and I already have cars that just sit most of the year (I hate to admit that btw).
Yes, mid-20s they seem to be asking nowadays....I see others that are not as nice colors still fetching/asking 20-25K with twice the mileage as this one. I've never seen another one in this color either...its VERY classy. Might be the best color they got for them too. I'll post pics as soon as I can get them. I'll call MBUSA too to see what numbers they brought in if no one here knows. Thanks for the feedback also. :) |
It sounds like a deal, the market for them seems to be similer to the 500E's. IE the prices are holding steady if not going up a bit.

This is my dream car. Unfortunately I already have my 300CE coupe, so I cannot buy it although I could afford it. No way I can get my wife's OK on this.

I think people routinely ask mid-20s $$$ for these, but I don't think they get it. In the last couple of months my local dealer (Ewing ******** in Plano, TX) had 93 300CE cab on the lot. My spouse wanted to take it for a spin, so we did. It was obviously somebody's baby - one owner, showroom condition in and out, 40K miles, full books and records. They were asking $17.5K IIRC. I looked it up and that's right on what Edmunds and KBB say it would go for.

Yeah, the car is almost like out of the factory.
JimY, what is IIRC? |
I must say that of all the ones in my herd, the Cabirolet is the most fun to drive and even has a good WAF. (Wife Acceptance Factor)
|
The US production numbers are as follows:
1993 - 766 1994 - 1,698 1995 - 3,676 My wife and I have owned our 95 cabriolet for six years and love it. Good luck with your purchase. |
Are we talking about the w124 2-door cabriolet? was there any 4-door cab?
Thanks! |

Besides, you'd expect the battery and coolant to have been changed at least once after 14 years.... |
IIRC = Internet abbreviation for "If I recall correctly."
