Tach amp,
The rev counter in the instrument cluster does not work.
I have found the tach amp, but reading other posts here about a temporary fix, what I am looking at doesn't quite match up... I have a w123, 230, 1982. When I unscrew the 'lid' of the tach amp (the black plastic 'bin')... Should there be anything there? The 'lid' is emtpy... Or am I looking in the wrong place at the wrong thing..? |

Gas cars do not have a tach amp, only turbo diesel cars.
The RPM signal on a gas engine is sent directly from the ignition module to the fuel pump relay & then to the tach

You might have a break in the signal wire going to the tach, might not have power to the tach, or the tach's capacitors have failed.
You will have to pull the cluster to find out more.
