Hi All. Can anyone describe the location of the 4-conductor engine coolant temp sensor that connects to the EZL elec ignition on a 103.983 engine?

It's supposed to be on the left side head, but all I can find are several 2-conductor sensors.

I've done a search here and perused the CD manual, all to no avail. Thanks in advance..Dan D.

Okay, that piqued my interest as well, so I decided to take a look under the hood of mine also (got some strange looks at the employee parking lot while I had my head in there).

The picture in the Haynes manual looks like the connector on the water pump, but I can't seem to find the d@#n thing either! The manual also states that it is located on the upper part of the left side of the cylinder head, and to not confuse it with the temperature gauge sensor.

If you have the 2.8 or 3.2L engine, it's probably visible if you remove that black plastic panel next to the valve cover on the left hand side.

I am going to look for it again tonight (in the privacy of my garage this time)...

The sensor for the fuel and EZL coolant temp is located on the rear of the cylinder head. It is the last sensor, closest to the fire wall.

Depending on year, this could be a green two pole or a black 4 pole sensor.

OK, thanks a bunch, Benzmac. I suspected so, but the only reference I saw in testing was for a 4-pole, so that became confusing. And Haynes didn't say much either, except for the general location.

I'll assume the same resistance test values apply, but with one less set to test.
