About a week ago my blower in the low setting started making a tweeting sound and eventually petered out either blowing very low or not at all. The blower in the high position blew fine, cold till a few days ago.
I am driving up the road, in a suit no less, and all of sudden I hear a grunt sound and then dead completely...Nothing not at any speed.
I am confused, I checked fuses under the hood but all is ok..I am at a loss and I hope someone can shed some light on this issue for me

Tweeting sound indicates to me that the blower motor bearings were starting to go south. Would still work on high for a while until the bearings really fried, which is probably what happened.

I'd say you are in for a new fan unit. You can DIY if you are handy, gotta pull a lot of trim bits and the wiper motor and wiper assembly, it's a half day job the first time, a few hours the second time.

Have you ever replaced the cabin filters? If you have, then take all that stuff off, remove the filters, and see if you can jam your fingers down there...you should be able to feel the fan blades, and you should be able to give them a spin - If the squirrel cage does not spin freely, or barely, you need a new fan motor (be sure and get the one designed for models with cabin filters). Did you check the strip fuse near the firewall?

where exactly is that strip fuse located?

I started to type where it is, then I thought it might be better to show with a picture. It is by the red oval - flip top lid, fairly heavy gauge wire (surprisingly).

If the bearings in the motor were audible at low speeds , then you know you must get to the motor and check it for binding shaft. If the fuse is bad , it is bad b/c the bound motor has blown it..simply replacxng the fuse is only going to aggrevate your condition b/c the excess current draw of the motor is just going to burn out the regulator...get to the cause ...I would put an amp meter across the open fuse and take a reading before replacing it..If it is excessive, you know the motor and/or reg are at fault.
Looking for 25A, 30 max..

Checked the fuse under the hood and it was all good...I didn't check the filters though....I also have heard there is a additional fuse for the blower somewhere behind the passeger kick panel but I haven't looked for this either. I have just shut it off so the compressor wouldn't freeze....I do suspect the blower moter being the culprit but until now it is unconfirmed...

thank you to all who have given me some advice on this issue...thank goodness it's only 95 degrees out here in Florida...At least my AC knew the right time to peter out eh....hehe

Not sure if you're going to dig into it or not, either way, it would be a good idea to have some replacement cabin filters on hand. This way, should the motor be good, you can replace them right away, and if the motor is bad you will have a set ready to go. Rumor has it, that dirty filters shorten blower motor life. (Siesta sand may as well, but that is another topic)

I experienced the same sound in the low position. I lived with it for about six months and then I got tired of my friends asking me what the squeaking was. It became an embarrassment so I finally replaced the blower motor. It solved the problem. Sounds like yours ceased up completely. You will be amazed that the blower motor will come out from underneath that small place under your windshield.
