I could imagine what a good laugh the dealership had when the cat was discovered.

Could be something crushed in your rear tires ? The air intake for a/c is in the rear, atleast on my 87, 260E it is in the trunk.

We had a bad mold infestation in a car due to some water seepage in the front foot well. I hope that's not your problem, as the car had to be replaced.

I wonder what the book rate is for "Dead cat removal?"

I don't know what the charges were. She also had some bad luck with rats taking up residence in there. One time they chewed up some of the engine wiring. Another time some fruit pits got caught in the throttle linkage and caused the throttle to be stuck wide open.

Well, whatever it is must be slowly decaying or drying out or something, because it still stinks but is much better today. I keep hoping for the sun to come out so I can put the car outside and let it bake a bit with the windows down. I've still got a pound or two of baking soda in there to absorb stink -- half in the car and half in the trunk.

I've checked everywhere I can see without disassembling the car -- engine compartment, trunk, spare tire area, wheelwells, what I can see under the dash, etc. I'm really baffled. At this point I just hope it stops stinking soon!

Cheers, John

I've had a car smell quite bad before.

If I put it in the sun with the windows down about 1-2" each, it dries out and doesn't smell.

After it no longer smells I usually put a potpourri pouch in there.
