722.6 5 Speed Electronic Transmission
What would happen if the electronic controls were completely disconnected from the transmission.
1) Would it not do into drive at all 2) Would it just stay in first or second 3) Would I be able to get reverse at all. 4) Would it work buetifully and just shift like a transmission from a 1970's GM product. I will be installing an aftermarket engine managment system (Megasquirt) onto a 1996 SL600. For the moment I will be unable to connect the electronic controls on the transmission. Megasquirt currently has this feature in development along with other CAN bus communication stuff. I only need this to be driven for preliminary testing. John Roncallo |

Hello John: The 722.6 is set up that an electrical problem occurrs it failsafes to second gear or reverse.
If a hydraulic or mechanical fault occurrs it engages third gear only and holds.or the gear that was last deemed good! Tim |

Thanks for the reply. I figured it was something like that.

What project are you working on? Most people wind up working with systems like MegaSquirt when they are transplanting motors into weird cars or kits. Tell us more.
Cheers, John
