Can someone point (or describe) where the lower control arm bushing is located in this picture? I don't think it is one of the red ones. Is it the arm going from the wheel up to the very right side of the picture? I need to lube or repair it. Thanks! Scott

Scotty, the lower control bushing is the red one on the left. The item you refer to is sometimes called the trailing arm or strut (not sure what MBZ calls it). Locates the hub carrier fore and aft. It is not the lower control arm.

So which one is the upper control arm bushing if the red one on the left is the lower control arm bushing? By the way, thanks for the post! Scott

There is no upper control arm per se. There are camber struts, antisway bar links, thrust arms aans shock absorber. Which part is causing the problem. I will try to get the correct names for you tomorrow.

In your diagram, the bushings for the part rod number "3" I believe are the ones that need to be replaced or lubed. The MB Tec told me that he replaced the upper bushing but not the lower and the lower bushing is the one that is giving me the creaking noise. Does this sound right? The bushing that was repaired last time that solved the problem on the other side of the suspension was a rear lower contol arm bushing. The part that they installed yesterday that DID NOT solve the creaking was the upper control arm link. He said that the link and bushings are the same thing because the bushings come with the link. What do you think he did and I need to do? Thanks very much, Scott

The thrust link/arm is the one you are describing. The arm comes with the bushings and is around $40, fastlane should have them. There has been many discussions on this topic. Do a search on rear suspension or rear links...
BTW, are those polyurethane bushings? where did you get them? As I understand it, sometimes they make noises. Good luck! |
2 things always get mixed up...no matter where I go the thrust arm is mistaken for the torque arm. The picture above is correct. I just got back from the Manhattan dealer and they gave me a print out similar to the one above. The two parts 210 350 45 06, 210 352 00 43 are apparently the same for both arms.

All of the bushings on the four smaller arms come with the arms. The delrin hard plastic bushings are always going to squeek and they should not be lubed. Hydrocarbon lubricants will deteriate the plastic and gather dirt.
