This is a very intermittant problem. Occasionally, when just finally coming to a full stop, the brake pedal will go a couple of inches further down and I hear (and feel) a crunching sound. I always am completely stopped when it happens so there seems to be no danger, but it is unusual. Anybody with similar situations or any advice?

The is the ABS kicking in when it is not supposed to. I have seen this commonly in cars with squeaky brakes.

If your brakes squeak loudly, they could be setting off the ABS.

You may need new pads and rotors and possibly front sensors.

Many thanks, Donnie! Yes, my front brakes squeak, although new pads and good rotors. I've been meaning to pull them and see if I can deglaze the pads. This will give me a good excuse to do it. Thanks again!
