It looks like an early version of a W126 coupe from the rear. Put a SEC euro grill and give it MB blue paint/palo interior and maybe they could sell it. Can't knock the 6.9L. Butt ugly, but would be pretty fun to drive.

Why would they put a 126 body on a 116 frame?
The shift gate says it's a 116 (besides the VIN & year) - and what a lousy job they did. Must've spent all of their money on the gull wing doors, and only had 5 bucks left for the leather "boot".

For what was probably an expensive car, I would have expected the grille to at least have been made with spacers - threaded rod, nuts, and oversize washers - really. You could do this well at home, and probably better.

That thing is so ugly, it should never have made it past the high school kid's notebook where it must have been sketched out.

That should have never, ever, seen the light of day. It is simply awful, inside, outside, from any angle.

Doesn't even work as a parody of anything

To the crusher with it, right away!

What the hell? That looks like the new Camaro that's coming out. The boot around the shifter cracked me up.

yeah, You're right, I see it now that you mentioned it. It looks a lot like the new Camaro. I'd just pull the driveline, and a select few components, and scrap the rest. Same thing I'd do with the Camaro, or GTO, P.O.S.

yech!

I think someone should call Boyd Coddington. Those are his wheels on the car. (Or at least someone has put a Boyds logo on the center-caps) If I were him, I'd buy it and crush it to keep anyone from seeing that abomination with my wheels.

Plus the wheels are ultra-butt-ugly.

Perfect example of someone with far too much spare time on their hands.

I don't think that car would pass safety inspection in TX, unless that horrible grill-thing on the front moves to expose the headlamps?

Good example of everything we should try to forget about the 70's.

And why would you take the time to photograph a car without closing the hood properly? Makes the sucker look like it's been in a wreck and panels no longer align properly.

Look at the Condition Report toward the bottom.... "average convertible top"... "no known body work"... "average trim condition". Somebody didn't do their homework, or just copy-and-pasted a report from another car.

That and the misaligned hood. You'd think for $49K they'd either align the hood or do a better job prepping for pictures.

Looks like it would be similar to getting in a 4 X 4 Pickup.

I chk'd out the franco sbarro web site and the car was listed and shown in their archives.

The web site shows around 1984 for the build dates of these things, you need to consider the cars being produced at that time to really compare this gullwing benz to it's peers. Fiberglass skirts and extensions plus bi-wing sedans and gaudy stripes were the rage. Recaro after market seats were a very desireable item. And there was a hugh market for anything gullwing that attracted wealthy buyers in the middle-east some which resided in and around London.

Sbarro did a really cool thing, he attached on-end two V-6 motorcycle engines to make a rear-engined V-12 hatch, from a mass produced front engined car, I can't recall the manufacturer of the donor car.

That V-12 thing sounds like a mechanical nightmare to me. I can't imagine trying to get someone to work on it. Setting timing, and carbs, to match must have been a task in itself.
