Power Steering Fluid

My power steering fluid is a bit low, and I am new to my 420SEL. IT does not appear to be leaking. What do I put in it to replenish it.... regular power steering fluid? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regular power steering fluid. Look in your owner's manual for more details.

Some would argue that you need the MB power steering fluid designated for your 420SEL(and other 124/126 cars).

This is what I use, but I'm inclined to agree with Brewtoo. The look, feel; smell, etc. of this MB fluid is VERY similar to plain-jane PS fluid. Now I realize that look/feel/smell ain't a scientific observation; I just can't help but wonder if everyday PS fluid would work just as well?

I use regular power steering fluid found at any reputable auto parts store. I do not use the off-brands and prefer Valvoline Power Steering fluid. No other reason other than brand loyalty.

Actually alot of people recomend you flush out the old, change the filter and fill up with Valvoline synthetic PS fluid. I did it with the help of info on this forum. Easy and quick. If it's dark and brown it needs to be changed.

Is the MB fluid synthetic? They sure are proud of it, but it's what I use in my car.

Our '06 Jetta lacks power steering fluid. Electric power steering is great. Hopefully all of the mfrs will get on board with it.
