Question Wood around gear shift

I needed new window switch in my 88 300 SE. I pried the wood panel switches are in. I broke it free from the wood underneath at the front it was attached to and cannot get it back in place. I did not have this problem with my 300 D and ignorantly used force and way too much it seems. Please help with what it need to repair this mess. Thanks, Brian

Are you refering to the front lip where the change cup tabs fit?

Reply Change cups

I am not sure what change cups are. This is the wood that the gear shift goes thru and the window switches sit in. The Wood I am refering to looks like a piece that the wood is attached to in the front of gear shift and under the lip of opening. I was thinking of using liwuid nails to reattach but not sure if that is a good idea for down the road. Thanks, Brian

Brian - OK think we are talking about the same. The panel that hold the switches has a lip on the front and that is what is broken. You probably did not loose and pieces. Take the piece that broke off and do a dry fit and make sure everything looks good and so you know the orientation when it come to gluing. Use a good wood glue or gorilla glue. Clamp the pieces together using a cloth on the finished part of the panel to prevent marring. Wipe off any excess and allow to dry to glue specifications. I have broken them myself.
