Front Passenger Seat Stuck
the front passenger seat on my 1986 300E can't be moved forward or backward anymore - it is all the way back, making the back seat very uncomfortable. It can still be moved up and down - is there any simple solution where the seat could be returned to a decent lateral position and left there, or only more complex work? If more complex, what would it take?
Thanks, Koby -------------------------- 1986 300E and just 55K??? |
Fix/replace the switch

I'm not quite sure what you mean - Replace the switch in the door?
Just a little more info having toyed with the seat last night: There is nothing blocking the movement of the seat, and the seat can move in any direction except forward and backward (it is all the way back). If i try to go farther back, the right side engages, but obviously can't do anything, i don't get the feeling of anything engaging on the left side. Could there be something wrong with just the left track? |

Is the motor trying to go? Is the problem mechanical or electrical? So far the votes are electrical but I don't think you really said.

Thanks for the replies, I'll try the contact cleaner as soon as i can get my hands on some.
It strikes me as an electrical problem, given that i don't feel any motor engaging when i try to move forward, as i do when i try to move backward. I guess if i can't get the contact cleaner to work i'll try taking the switch apart. |
