coolant leaking out...PIC

1 Attachment(s)
I was driving my car a week ago and to my surprise the "low coolant" thing lit up on the dash so I topped it off and it went away, about a week later it came on again. I knew something had to be up, when I got home I decided to look around. When I look down into the engine, on that cover that covers the bottom of the engine there is coolant there. I can hear it dripping, but can see where it's coming from. The car runs fine and smooth as usual, no check engine light either...any suggestions?
The car has 90k miles on it.

97 W210 E320 I6

I took a pic this morning and saw a lil pool of coolant just under the water pump area...

coolant

its sorta hard to determine your model and year but thinking its a 86-91 300e one cant normally see the water pump leak where you show in the pictures,so check the hose connections. if it is the water pump, its a tough job.

In your photo, it looks like there is a drip line coming from the thermostat housing. I would check the hose connection. It could also be the o-ring in the thermostat housing.

I'm gonna check that right now!

EDIT: I just went outside a ran the car for a short while to get the drip going again. It's coming from under the water pump area, I can see the little puddle moving as each drip hits it. I cannot see far enough under there to see exactly where the drip is coming from though.

Water pump shaft bearing weep hole most likely.

Time for a new water pump.

Additional advice:- before replacing the pump give the system a good flush and then use Mercedes Coolant/ water mixture once the new pump has been installed. Might be a good idea to also replace all the rubber hoses and install a new thermostat whilst at it.
