cl500 (w215) battery drain

The battery is draining overnight. Have replaced battery to no avail. Alternator is giving out 14v with engine running.
With car off, have hooked up ammeter in series and am getting a 1.8amp draw, which is obviously why battery drains. Did obvious checks for any lights on etc, started pullling all fuses but current draw remains.

I have noticed that the power to drivers door is intermitent, and i have recently needed to close the door several times for the side window to raise closed, or for the door controls to operate. Not sure if this is related to the battery drain.

I'd appreciate any advice and any info on how to remove the drivers door card. I have been able to release the card from the aft and lower edge, but to get further access, need advise on how to remove the wood trim and handle.

Kind Regards.
