power steering pump leaking bad!

1990 560sel power steering pump is leaking like a water hose. it looks like out of the back of the pump toward the rear of the car. what do you do for this? beasdes buy another one. car has 300,000 miles.

From your description it could be the pump, the gearbox, high pressure hose, or low pressure return hose. You need to clean it up and see where it's coming from. A really bad leak is more likely to be a hose.

There is an O ring that is shot. Remove the pump, replace the O ring. It is large, about 4" in diameter. There are several inside that should also be changed.

You can buy a rebuild kit off ebay rather cheap and replace all the gaskets and seals.
