Man Fan runs at idle///you mean fan on front of water pump?
There is also a fan in front of ac condenser radiator thing is that the aux fan?

I haven't ran the AC yet as I was not wanting to tax the engine when I had temp problems

Have to figure out how to work the AC
darn Euro controls are different...

It did blow cold when it was tested when I checked it out before I bought it

Is the aux fan supposed to come on in additiona to other fan wo AC running?

I think if the level in the expansion tank rose, maybe that means the cap is leaking when the engine gets hot.

It is a pretty inexpensive experiment.

Seems MB only carries 140 which is 20 higher than mine
SO I';; get a new radiator cap...

Lets hope it helps a bit...

THANKS!

Aux or auxilliary fan is the electric fan that is in front of the ac condensor. THe other fan on the engine belt is the cooling fan. They both cool, I know...
They both come on at different times. The engine cooling fan is primary to cool the engine and should cycle on and off as the temp gauge hits say about 80-85 maybe 90. Then go off, then come back on. Probably a fan clutch that is elecetric or hydrostatic controlled.
The Aux fan is the secondary cooling fan and can actually come on with the car off, or stay on after the car it turned off for a while then shut off. It also comes on usually when the engine gets even hotter and stays hot as a second colling fan. Then is also comes on whenthe ac comes on to help the condensor stay cool and add to the cooling addility due to the extra stress on the engine with the a/c running.
give a pic of the ac controls and I can tell you which one to use to test the fan, i dont remeber what they all are in your year euro. Typically the "O" is off and the arrows and rectangle pictures are indicating whch locations air will be coming from whenit is on. The snowflake is the basic a/c and there is usually another AC setting that takes out humidity and is like the "max" setting, i hardly ever use it or I freeze my wife out of the car.
Push one of the rectangle pictured buttons or oneof the arrows upa nd down pictured buttons, put the fan speed lever at medium or higher and push in on the snowflake button and you have AC. Your buttons might be a tad diff but not much i wouldlnt think. They are all pretty euro even on the US cars there are no words, just the pictures likeyou have.

On your control panel, the question mark on the right side is the right side of the car heat and cool controls. It is a split system.

So the 2 blue dials are temp setting for driver & passenger side...
It was a bit confusing.

Main thing it to find AC on w compressor..

Looks like you'd have to have top switch on AC

Just wasn't sure which one is compressor
I know there is a non setting recirculate

Will just have to experiment w it when I get a chance
but haven't wanted to stress engine til I got coolin under control

Thanks

right. your snowflake symbol turns on the compressor. the recirculate button if it is like the us model will turn off after about 20 minutes. it is for when it is extra hot outside.
