Can anyone confirm that the SRS light (if no faults exist) will reset itself after 45 on/off key sequences. My SRS light is on because I was cleaning the connectors under the passenger seat while the battery was connected and the key position was on. I was trying to fix the seatbelt light fault. A mechanic told me that after 45 on/off key sequences, the light should go off (reset itself). I am looking to confirm this.. Please advise...

What is meant by a stored code..? See my last questions regarding my SRS light. The only thing I did was disconnect some of the connectors under the passenger seat while the motor was on. Does this create a stored code..? Please advise..

Yes it creates a stored code. I think in either 98 (or 99), it would turn off if it was plugged back in. But before that, they stay on. Now if I'm not mistaken, the SRS light illuminates for about 90 seconds after you start the car? To my knowledge, it will not reset the code after 45 starts, and unplugging the battery won't work either on an SRS fault, believe me, I tried! What you need to do is take it to the dealer and have the clear the code. THat was my only option too after I replaced my seat belt... $90 for that!!!!!

The DTC can be reset by the following:
1) Turn ignition key to 'ON'
2) Jumper pin 30 (SRS diag pin) to pin 1 (ground) on the 38 pin connector (X11/4) for 3 seconds. Lift jumper from Pin 1.
3) Wait about 10 seconds, repeat the procedure but this time short the two pins for 8 to 9seconds.
4) Remove the jumper permanently.
5) Turn ignition 'OFF' and wait 10 seconds before turning ignition on.

The pinout can be found on my page (red house): Menu #2. There you can see the X11/4 pin diagram. The 'scary' part is the pins are small and this is best done with a 'mushroom' (down toward the bottom of the same page), so you won't short to another pin. But if you are careful, there sb no problem. Make a small jumper with the appropriate pins and plug into pin 30 first, then following the above procedure, plug into pin 1.

This procedure will reset the code if that is the only code stored or it is the first code that is stored. The only DTC that sb stored is "6"; "Front passenger seat belt buckle switch (S68/4)" based on what you described (check Menu #10 for SRS).

Sounds a little tricky, but doesn't seem too bad.
And for JohnSL320, how will he know what pin is what (# I mean) ? And he just shorts it will a little wire, will a paperclip work?

Maybe the tip of a paperclip is the 'right' side to fit into the female pin but it scares me because it's 'springy'! But, then again, it might be perfect.

What I would do is make up a piece of insulated wire, 20 awg and just lightly tin the ends.
