I was testing out my aux fans the other day. I noticed that the sensor that it plugs into (Coolant Temperature Sensor) was turning. That is, although it is not leaking, the green sensor portion spins within the brass casing. See http://pages.prodigy.net/jforgione/CTS_Mod.jpg
Is this normal? Should it be replaced? Thanks Willy |
Well,
I decided to replace it anyway. Part# was 000 542 4517. Willy |
You say the sensor was turning...
What was the problem? Was there one? Was there an indication that there might have been a problem? And what do you mean it was turning? Like spinning? Anyway, glad your problem was solved! And thanks for posting the results! |
The sensor is pictured in the link above. I was told that because the blue piece (plastic/ceramic?) turned within the brass piece that this was not good.
Problem was that I was not sure that the fans were always engaging at the right time. Although it might not have been defective, for $25 it was a no brainer to just change it for piece of mind. Willy |
