W124 Lenses
I'm driving a 92 400E but I like the look of the lenses that came on the 95 Models better. Specifically the clear turn signals on the front and the Taillight assembly with the same clear signals. If I just go down to the dealer and buy the lenses for a 95, will they fit on my 92?
Thanks |

Yes.
With one slight exception. The 95 headlights have lenses that are designed to match the curvature of the 95 hood. If you are looking for the same look but for an earlier W124 like yours then go with Euro headlights. You can get them at http://www.importvision.com or http://www.katmac.com You can order the original from the dealer or at http://www.rallylights.com but its way to expensive for an old car so go with the replicas which are about 98% to the originals quality wise, unless of course you can afford it. You can also find some originals in Europe on Ebay for cheap. The tailights are an exact fit with no issues. You can also get the dark/red versions from importvision but the originals have a lighter shade of gray and look a little better, so go with OEM from the dealer, same with the front turn signals. Both are plug and play and fit the same way as the ones you have on now. Click "Buy Parts" above and call Phil he'll hook you up |

No, wouldn't fit plus you wouldn't want to go down to the dealer to buy such an item - the cost would be a significant portion of the market value of the car. It's not quite the same look but you can buy clear front turn signal lenses for about $100.

To the original poster please read my post carefully. The side markers and the tail lights of the 94-95 W124 fit earlier W124's with NO ISSUES! The headlights fit but the curve at the top will be exposed. If that curve will bother you then get Euros instead. Listen to people who have actually done these and I have lol |

Pics won't be necessary as I don't want the Euro headlights. I think the stock ones look better. I'll only be changing the Front Side Markers and the Taillight assemblies. Are those all parts I want to get from the dealer? Only the Euro headlights are the ones that are prohibitively expensive right? Not the parts I'm after? I haven't researched it yet but I'd like to know what kind of price range I'm looking at for the assemblies. I can install them myself.
Thanks everyone. |

You can get the parts from the dealer or from Buy parts above. For the tailights all you need is the lenses. That will probably set you back about $250. Click the link above and plug in E320 1995 and you should get an idea of the prices. I can get you a picture of the tailight lenses I installed and the headlights, of course I replaced the hood 3 years ago to match them after a fender bender I can't get a picture of the turn signal because I switched to all clear and sold those. Oh and NOTE if you go with the headlights you will lose your headlight wipers unless you buy new updated ones. Last edited by yal; 09-10-2007 at 02:15 PM. |

W124 Lenses
Sorry for the extended delay, some financial issues came up and I scrapped the idea. But I'm thinking I'm going to use my tax refund to put the front side markers and the updated taillight assemblies on both my 400 and my girlfriend's CE.
Could you post those pics? Or e-mail them to Whitelightnin79@yahoo.com? Thanks

There was no change in the dimensions of the front turn signal units nor the taillights throughout the life of the W124. The first ones fit the last ones and vice versa.

Here is a picture of the taillight lenses when I first put them on about 5 years ago Its really easy to swap the lenses. The back plate in the trunk comes off with a twist of the plastic lock and then the plate comes of with all the bulbs. You set that aside and then unscrew the lens (5 bolts, I think) and it just comes off. Install the new lens in reverse and you're done.

Go to ebay for the tail lights. I bought crystal clear taillight assemblies last year for about $45.00 plus shipping ($15.00) They fit perfect and totally changed the look of the rear of the car. I have a 1987 300E. This is definately the way to go. I received the parts pretty quickly too. I also purchased crystal clear front side markers off of ebay. They look way better than stock, in my opinion.
I will try to post a pic or two after I get home tonight. Good Luck, Sam
