126 Suspension Problems
Hi folks,
I've got an '85 300SD that has developed a pretty bad front end clunk while going over bumps, hard braking, etc. I have done some suspension/steering work before, but mostly just older(simpler) American cars. I would like to do a pretty thougrough rebuild while I have it apart, but I can't seem to find a manual/schematic for these cars. What would you guys recomend as far as a manual with a good schematic and torque specs? Also wondering what you guys think of this kit: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-MERCEDES-126-W126-Control-Arms-Arm-Ball-Joints-Rods_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33583QQihZ015QQitemZ250162496178QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW It seems to be a pretty complete kit, I guess I would still need new guide rod kit, right? Thanks for the help guys!

man, i bought an online cd for 15 bucks that just was a rip-off, my very best info for my 420 sel came from this place and a couple of chiltons at the local librery. all the torq specs and a lot more. Chilton's is great, other members have a few tricks you may not find in a book too.

Sounds like your castor rod bushings need replacing, while under there get the tech to look at you steering idler arm bushings and ball joints. The best info can be had by purchasing a mbusa cd, it has the most in depth information that one could get bar getting your hands on actual mercedes tech books.
