My 123 door strap started groaning so I shot it with wd40 which has made it worse. If I open up the door panel and take it out is it repairable or should I just order the new part?

if white lithium grease cannot make the door check quiet, replace it, it is cheap and the odds are not with you to actually get the thing apart safely.

Replace the door stop. Easiest repair I know of and not too expensive.

Groaning door straps: renewal; always! I have seen several doors that didn't close anymore because of a worn door strap. The part is cheap and renewal is easy.

There is an old style and a new style door strap. The old style can be easily dissassembled and tweaked- regreased. The new style is garbage. Even if you have to go to a junkyard, get the old style. (Have a look at both.) DB
