Where can one find W123 Mud guards?

I am at my wit's end trying to find an aftermarket mud guard (flap) set for an '84 300d turbo. Does anyone know if there is a decent fit (i.e. non-modified semi truck mud flap) mud guard that will fit the W123?

Thanks!

Euro type accessories like these are found, not surprisingly, in Europe:

I'd look in ebay.de under schmutzfanger, you never know what might turn up...

Hmmm... I'm not much for reading German... do you suppose there is such an item for the W123 as opposed to the W124? I was told by Randy @ parkplacestores.com (great Mercedes site in Dallas) that he has seen them, but has no idea where to find such an animal.

I have bought a lot of stuff from ebay Germany, and I don't speak German.

Actually, it is not hard. Don't forget, most people there in school learn English, and can speak and write it.

If the auction ships world wide, and that is usually easy, to figure, simply start, before bidding with a letter something like this:
"Question to seller" section of auction.

Hello,

(Nicht sprechen sie Deutsch) I live in USA and would like to bid on this item.
Do you speak English?
Would you
welcome buyers from USA?
If so, what payment methods would be acceptable: US dollars in cash (sent at my own expense), Paypal , or other?
is the shipping cost, by airmail (Luftpost) or ground?

Many thanks

It has worked 100% successfully for me over the last 8 years.

The Germans are honest, friendly, helpful, pack very thoroughly and mail quickly.

It is easy for buyers without knowledge of German to buy from them

Just learn to navigate the ebay.de website (it works the same as US ebay) and you will be fine, the W123 mudflaps should turn up sooner or later.

The commonest ones you see on the European W123 cars have the white Mercedes star in a circle logo on them, as you know.

Dont forget either, that the German ebay has a feature that translates the auction into (awkward) English, if that help is needed.

You should be fine.

Randy at Park Place is a great parts guy, very helpful.

I am pretty sure someone here posted either a source or part numbers for 123 mud flaps a long time ago. It would take some intense searching to find it though.

Thanks all for the tips regarding ebay in Germany and for model numbers. I have checked that site, but nothing there yet... will keep trying. Also, it gave me the idea for a post to munich.craigslist.org in the wanted section. I'll let you know how things turn out!

Thanks again...

Typical one pictured

This looks like an example of the classic "euro" mudflaps with the with the Mercedes star on them, so typically seen in Europe. This one is a W116 in England.

Good luck in the hunt

Yep, I stumbled on those myself this morning. Does this mean a bidding war???

The photo supplied by JimB makes me wonder... they don't look as though they'd be all that difficult to construct out of available mud flap blanks... does anyone know how they affix to the car? I'd like the real McCoy, but if they are going to be unobtainable I would be content on making a set myself. All I know is that they sand the roads here in the winter time and I've seen what that does to cars without mudflaps (not a pretty picture!) My '84 300d turbo only has 58K miles and is in gorgeous shape (not a speck of rust)... I'd like to keep it that way!

Just curious..,
Why would you want to put those stupid, flaky, ugly defacing things on your ride..? They are so silly looking. I'd rather deal with a little dirt, or the other minor consequences of not having them on my car, than deface it with mudflaps. They look so friggin' Gay on there..., On anything for that matter..

Just my oppinion..

I've found Google to be helpful in translating foreign languages. Look next to the normal search bar for "language tools", at the bottom of the page you can enter a URL and translate from which ever language you need.

Well, once again my loathing of ebay has been reinforced... a couple of days before this "auction" was to end, I get a message that the item has sold. If anyone might have some of these mudflaps and would be willing to make a pattern of them and offer a detailed description of their mounting, I would gladly compensate them for their time.

Thanks!
