Transmission Range Number?

Hi Guys

I'm trying to order some transmission parts, and I'm being asked for a transmission range which is either

070826-620296

or

620297-

and I'm not sure which one of these I should go with.

If anyone has an answer to this, I'd greatly appreciate it. The details of my car are as follows:

1985 190E 2.3L 8 vlv
The transmission is a 722.400
and the cars Vin Number is: WDBDA24C8FF105276

Where do these ranges come from anyway?

TIA

you need to look at complete trans number on right side of case just above the trans pan and your question will be answered OR call local benz dealer parts dept and give them your vin # and ask them for your trans #.

p.s. your vin # is incorrect there is one digit wrong could it be gf instead of ff?

Thanx guys

I checked the VIN number

Here it is again, the last digit was wrong, bad lighting I guess

VIN: WDBDA24C8FF105274

And here is the entire transmission number, which digits should I be looking at? Where does this 070826-620296, or 620297 fit in here?

123 270 77 01 722 400 02 218853

The first 10 digits are the part number, the next 6 are the transmission number, and the last 8 are the serial number, someone help :)

TIA

The last 6 are serial #
So, 218853 fits in the 070826 thru 620296 series.
Anything AFTER that series would start with 620297 and On.
Your serial actually means your trans is the 218,853rd one installed at the production line on that chassis. There was a production change of the trans at 620,297th and on...may have been just a small change , but there are parts that are not the same for each series of trans, even though they are in the same year/model.

it's a diff series of engine if you read it right.102985 versus 102982.that makles it an earlier engine than the one ther car was built with.
