99 C280 One Key Turns One does Not

MB People,

I have a 99 C280. Great car.

I have two keys for this vehicle. They're the strange looking electronic or something keys.

One key works fine everytime. The other key will go in the ignition but will frequently not turn. I asked some MB owners if there is a battery that needs to be changed, and the response was that the battery is only for the remote opener.

Has anyone had this problem or knows of a remedy?

You've already diagnosed the problem. At times, the problematic key isn't tramsmiitting data to the ignition switch. It's the key.
