I have a 1995 S-350 diesel and the console between the front seats has a top part that flips back. The latch that opens it is on the middle part. This part also flips back to get to the main storage area of the console. Has anyone else had this problem and can the latch be fixed or replaced without replacing the middle part that houses the latch? The part is not in partshop but I priced it at the dealer and it was over $700 - ridiculous.
Thanks 1995 S-350 144,000 miles |

The spring latch on my S320 is also broken, I am not going to fix it. It rest on the close position, only problem is the spring did not return when I push on the latch.

Broken console latch
Yes, I've had the same problem on my 1995 S420. The dealer replaced the entire console lid, not just the latch. Was covered under original warranty. Service rep told me the cost would have been close to $800 without warranty.
