How do I repair this window regulator (pics)?

Hi,

W124, 1995 E320 Sedan.

The window on the driver's side stoped working after a "crack" noise. Last night I removed the door panel and removed the window regulator and motor (what a pita!). The regulator looks good. All pinions teeth are good and teflon gides are like new. The motor is also good and by pressing the button, I get the motor moving and the big regulator pinion turning but the window does not move at all. It moves free by hand.

I'm not familiar with this regulator but I think there are 2 pices that are supossed to be welded because I see 3 welding spots. Those 2 parts are not welded anymore (see picture). My car is grade 2 armored and those windows are heavy. I guess welding failed because of glass weight.

Should I get those parts welded? What's the right position before welding? Or is it something else wrong?

I really appreciate your help.

I have heard of people drilling the welds out and using screws to hold the pieces together. however, if you can get it welded, I would do that.

I guess armored cars are not that rare in Columbia? Did you end up getting them welded? How did that work out?

Mine are not working properly, but I haven't even opened up the door to look at them yet.

Thumbs up Great !

Hi,

Yes, armored cars are comon here. This car's first owner was a company that bought it for it's CEO and got it armored.

The repair went great. I got those parts welded and is working great since then.

Thank you all for your valuable help. This forum is great and is the only way to keep all MB running at a reasonable cost.

Regards,

Juan
