Front Passenger Headrest Stuck - HELP!
I have an '03 CLK 500. I left on vacation for 9 days, but before I left on vacation, my passenger seat was pushed forward so someone could get out of the back seat (when the seat is pushed forward (for easy entry/exit), the headrest automatically moves down and then back up when the seat is moved back to it's regular seating position). I came back from vacation and my battery was dead, so I had it replaced, but now my passenger seat is stuck in the forward position (as if someone is getting out of the back seat) because for some reason my headrest went back up when my seat was pushed forward. Any ideas on how to fix it or at least remove the headrest so I can temporarily move my seat back to the normal position? I can't even see out of my passenger side mirror because my seat is in the way.

I only have an old w124 car, and its power headrests are probably no where near the sophistication level of you car. However, on our car there is a recessed button on the seat back you can push to remove the headrest completely.
You can just push the power headrest button and lower it? |
Owner's manual has a procedure listed for resynchronizing the seats/headrest and other items whenever the battery is disconnected.
|
Troverman - Whenever the seat is moved forward (so someone can get into the back) or moved back (so someone can sit in the front), the headrest automatically moves up or down.
Sokoloff - my owners manual has the following procedures listed: Set the clock Resynchronize the ESP Re-enter the radio code Resynchronize side windows Resynchronize sliding/pop-up roof Nothing about resynchronizing seats/headrests. Do you by chance have that info on hand? |
Maybe yours is a different set up than mine. On mine I have the headrest and seat adjustment buttons on the doors. Resynchronizing is done by pushing the seat button all the way forward while at the same time pushing the headrest button all the way down. Once the seat moves all the way forward, I'm good to go.

It has been 3 days. Are you still stuck with the seat forward?

Thank GOD I was able to pull a wrestling move and put the chair back in it's place... LoL So basically, me and the chair had a fight... I won. :)
And suddenly, the electric headrest is working again. It probably just went out when the battery died. |
Hopefully the car has learned its lesson and won't act up so much in the future! A little brute force can go a long way.
