loctite on trans filter screws?
 

Finally the trans fluid is drained on my 95 E320. I reassembled but ran out of light before torquing the pan bolts (using an old gauge type torque wrench for a torque setting that low).

There were just a couple, maybe three grain of sand type particles in the front corner of the pan. Other than that the pan was extremely clean and the fluid bright red.

The screws for the filter were hard to break so I am wondering if they should have had a drop of blue loctite when the new filter was installed? Or is that unnecessary?

Old habits die hard. I build my son's kart motors. Everything that can't be drilled and wired is loctited. The Benz is more than somewhat smoother.

No loctite and be very very sure you torque the bolts to the specified amount. The pan will leak if too tight and then if it is too loose. Too tight can also cut and ruin a brand new gasket
