NOT AGAIN NOT AGAIN!!! Electrical nightmares!

Guys,

Please help! Im going to explain the situation to you as best i can.
My car is a 1990 190E 2.5-16, aka satan's chariot - well, it may aswell be!

I have a clifford concept 50 alarm in there. Anyway in the fuse box there some relays at the back and there is a red wire which is bridging two points.
I never really gave this wire a second thought because everything was working as it should be.

Anyway the parts guy at the dealership said that there really should be a relay in there. Part No: 0015420219. So i bought this and fitted it.

Turned the car on and the ABS light came on. Hmmmm, i thought. Turned it off, then per chance turned the ignition to the 2 position which illuminates all the bulbs on the dashboard and i noticed the triangle light for the ASD and the ASD light itself were not illuminated. I started it up again and drove round to my friends, on my way i tried to lower my window it would not work. Tried all windows, all seem to be dead.

Came back home and removed the relay and put the wire back in. I think in the fading light i bridged the wrong points and i heard a popping noise followed by a faint smell of burning. Then bridged the right points but nothing doing. Windows still dead, ABS light on, ASD triangle and ASD light off at ignition 2!!!

I checked the OVP and changed it for a new one, no difference at all. All fuses are fine.

I contacted the previous owner who said that the red wire was put in there by the people who installed the car alarm and should be there.

Im so saddened by all of this! Prior to changing this relay all was well. Could this have really messed things up that bad!??

Any help, advice, anything would be really appreciated!!!

Thankyou so much...

I would assume the problem was there before
hence someone did the fast fix of hot wiring a bridge
Luckily there apparently was no additional problems as a result

When a good relay went in it found the same faults never addressed...

Don't know what the pop & burn did though
might have more problems

Had my own can't see nightmares

Was just going to spend some time changing the last of my fuses...
Maybe I did enough damage for this week

:mgwhore2:

Good Luck

Hope someone can help

you're going to have to undo the screws that hold down the fuse panel in the box, lift it up and find out what you burned.
