Yesterday, as I was installing a RF CD Changer in our new-to-us 1995 C220, I noticed that there was a wire that had come disconnected from its solder lug on a connector and another, on the same connector, that was about to come loose. As I recall, one was brown and one was brown with a green (?) stripe. It was on a connector that was designed to handle up to 4 wires but only had two. It was a few inches from another connector that was similar but red.
Anyone know what these wires are for? Maybe has something to do with my SRS light staying on longer than it should? I did not trace the wires but I did reconnect them. I'm not sure whether the SRS light is switching off more quickly or not as I haven't yet driven the car. Thanks for any info. And I must say, as others before me have, that this forum is a wonderful -- even incredible -- resource. The problems that I have resolved in just the one week that I have owned this car and been a member of this forum has saved me hundreds of dollars. Jody Hart |

That seems like the problem to your SRS light.
If I'm not mistaken, you see: 2 sets of wires, both with 2 wires in them (but 4 slots in each) that are connected under the seat facing the front of the car? If one of those was disconnected, then I'm sure that was your problem. If you hooked it back up, all you need to do is take it to the dealer to reset the system ($90 for me!!). There is no way of turning off the light without taking it in...

David,
Thanks again for your insight. In my case, the light does eventually go out (both before and after the repair to the wires under the seat). Is that consistent with the need to reset the SRS light? Or does the light only need to be reset if it stays on all the time? Regards, Jody Hart |

If I remember correctly, your light stays on for about 90 seconds after you start the car? I had the same case, and it still needs to be reset. It should only light up right when you start the car when the rest of the lights light up. It should be reset because there still is a 'fault' in the system. Good luck.

SRS related connectors are RED and as far as I remember there is only a 2-pin red connector under the (European) seat...was the connector you were looking at RED (SRS related) or BLACK (possible power seat or seat heating related)?
SRS related problems (light stays on) always need to be reset after the cause has been repaired. greetingz,
