I just had Eurolights installed on my '87 300E.I remember there was a post in this site (can't seem to find it) for bulbs that were a combinatiion of halogen and xenon?Anyway, I'm looking for the best light output I can find.

PIAA

PIAA makes some H4 bulbs for your Euro lights. I have a set of their 55/60 that has a higher output than the 55/60. They look like the popular HID lights on the newer MB's. Joe

Also Hella and Philips make H4 bulbs in +30 and +50 output, but same wattage as stock. http://www.fosmo.com/ has a description of these bulbs. They all use a little xenon, not for color - for cooling. The improved light output is obtained by repositioning the filament. I have never bought from Fosmo, and some members have reported mixed results, but the site shows what is available.

Also, before you buy the color xenon look bulbs, you might want to read the test at this site:

Good luck on your choice.

I also recommend the PIAA's as I have them in my 190E's euro's. They have a fluorescent white type of light, no yellowish tinge to them at all.

Good luck with what you decide.

I use PIAA superwhites and PIAA ion fog light bulbs. You can get them at http://www.autosupermart.com, which is where I got mine, they were about $30.00 a peice x 4.

They are incredible, they have the xenon, whitish look to them, and fogs are pretty cool looking.

I will try and get a pic on here for you. Rightnow my cars in the shop so when i get it back I will try to get a pic on my digital camera. Remind me if I forget (i have bad memory lately, lol)...

PIAAs are a waste of money. You don't see any better. Been there, done that.

However, my new Philips VisionPlus H4s are xenon like in the light output. Just unreal for halogen. My fogs are Philips All Weather H3 (yellowish). Wonderful combo. All are stock wattage, too, so no melting assembly issues.

h4 bulbs

emr50- i bought my 80/100 watt bulbs from capitolwest. the manufacturer was "heliolite" they have some xenon gas, there is not the yellowish effect i had with MY 55/60 watt ones.

i have been very satisfied, and "knock on zebrano wood" i've not experinced any problems.

imho piaa bulbs burn a lot hotter and are WAY overpriced, just not worth it.

my 80/100's really seemed to kick them up another notch!

I went to Capitolwest website and they're selling Xenon bulbs--- can these be used for the 300E as is or is there a conversion needed? And do you recommend these bulbs. Also if I get the 80/100 bulbs, would I need stronger wiring and are they street legal?
