cold starting problem
 

Thanks! I will test for vac. leaks. If the calibration is off on the sensor, is there a way to recalibrate it? (It does seem like it's running lean)

How do I check the calibration of the sensor plate on my 1986 2.3-16v. I had two or three unpleasant missfires and since the car has become difficult to start when cold. It is very well maintained and it typically runs perfectly. it has gotten colder here in IL lately also. Car has about 98.500 miles on it.

My 84 190e will turn over and sound like the fuel is not getting to the engine at all. Once in a while there is a sputter for a second. Then back to nothing. Only when its cold. I'm in the Nothwest Burbs and its in the 30's in the am. I have checked the fuse under the red cap behind the battery and it's fine. Does that mean the OVP relay is OK too? If not, how do I check the relay? Am I even going in the right direction with this? Not really sure how to check vacuum, either. Note: After wearing the new battery down to almost nothing I can usually get it started (15 minutes) and then, after a little sputtering, it runs like nothing was wrong!

And it's not going to warm up any time soon here.

look at plate and see if it is high enough in the venturi that air could be drawn into intake around the sides of plate[usually at the front].
