Need help with Ashtray/console

Hey guys,
I had to remove the console a few weeks ago to change the stereo on my 97 S600 and now I'm having a hard time with the ashtray housings. There are two pieces (I'll include part numbers and picutes) that appear to be the housing but not sure how they fit together. Any help is appreciates.

Smaller piece:
140 683 21 00
1-4047-000

and bigger piece:
140 683 04 00
1-3586-000
