hrmm doesnt look quite right now does it? You know that you can use the new style base, right? Its the same size spring fitting and plus you get a mic option for a handsfree kit. Works great with my bluetooth parrot kit. Heres some shots of 201 installs:

124 follows the same concept, but is way easier. Hint: Dont try to follow 2phasts guide for this mod =P

oh we actually did the exact same mirror install in my dads 124 sportline. Here was a test fit in a 201:

ill try to dig up the pics of it in the 300e. I know the wiring was kinda difficult, but nothing too bad. Oh and dont forget to hook up the shifter illumination led!

Which mount are you talking about? Still have to get mine in to get an idea how it looks.
Your install looks nice (maybe a little naked without the mini visor). Would sure appreciate the wiring diagram.

201s dont have a mini visor.
ill see what my bro says tonight

the mount is the mount that goes with that mirror from the C class, not the S or ML

pmari 10-22-2007 09:28 PM

Ahhhh, c-class.
My mirror plate & ball stalk are from a w140 (with the bose option). I got it from the local bone yard for $20.00. I got the 2006 for $10.00 (and $10.00shp) off ebay totally different mount no spring at all. so far I got $40.00 into the mod.

neat. the c-class ones usually go for about that much on ebay. The black ones go for considerably more, but they are easy to paint

pmari 10-22-2007 09:35 PM

Post a pic of the w124 when you get a chance. I may have to look for a c-class mount if mine looks too funky in place. I think it's going to be high enough not to matter.

dome lights were wired to the indash dome light switches, the center one does the rear dome light. The angle of the reflector on these things is perfect too! The driver cant even see the light at night. The mood/shifter light is that little yellow LED you see in the middle and is just wired into the illumination circuit.

chuni959 10-22-2007 10:57 PM

trust me, get the c-class base, that will look horrible and sit waaay too far down

pmari 10-22-2007 11:03 PM

NICE! looks factory. Did you paint that c-class mount? If so what paint and color, matches the mushroom well in the digi photos. What needs to be done to the mount?

OK so blue and green wires are for the lights, the pink with green stripe is the mood light:cool: I'll guess the 2 browns are ground so that leaves the yellow and the blue gray stripe? (If I had to bet, I'd say the blue is the auto dim ((and should connect in the head light circut with the mood light)) and the yellow is the reverse cancel(which I don't need) or maybe homelink? Need to know for sure though:idea3:

Update: It appears the blue gray is the auto dim and the yellow is the homelink. This is from a wiring schematic for a 2006 M-class.

oh lucky you, i found the diagram i sent my bro was he was trying to get the dome lights to come on independently:
http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/6302/cirhi3.png

and i really have no idea on the wires man, im not sure if i have a schematic for that. Its just trial and error.

And the base is just a stock color from a c class, we didnt paint it. Search ebay for c class mirrors

pmari 10-23-2007 08:10 AM

Thanks for the schematic. I'm going to wire mine independent of the switches and turn them on and off via the mirror buttons.
I'm also going to tap into the timer circut from the dome so it comes on and off when you open a door. The mood light will be on with the dash/instruments, I never use the dimmer anyway.

Ok so the C-class base is plug and play? Looked like Rik had corner gaps that had to be filled and his mini visor overlaped his dome controls and wouldn't lay flat.
Your install looked like it had a smaller corner gaps and mini visor layed flat?

Here is an original W124 mount with a W140 auto dim S-class mirror.
