HELP! 1990 420 SEL Cruise Control Amp
I've got a '90 420 SEL and the cruise isn't working. Going to try and replace the AMP. I've taken out the AMP that was in my car (005 545 05 32) with the Coding module. I've found a replacement out of a '86 420 SEL (003 545 07 32) with no spot for the coding module. Will this one work without any problems?
I've check the Internet and have heard both ways, but need to know an honest answer. The '86 AMP is only $48 so that's a great deal if it would work. Thanks!

Careful with used amps, almost ALL need to have the connectons resoldered. Usually the AMP is always the problem. Other components are very reliable, actuator and hall sensor are rarely bad.
You can try ANY amp in the car. The only negitive side it is might not work correctly, some are interchangeable, some are not. Try to use the closest car match you can find and it should be fine, a perfect match is nice but I have had others work before during swaps for testing and checking amps. Cant hurt to try if you have a spare available. DOnt spend more than $40 or so on a used amp, try to resolder yours before you spend $50 or more, usually all is needed is to remelt the solder on the pin connections. Do a forum search on the task, there is a lot on it.
