Transmission Leak- Thrust Element
Have a transmission leak in my 1986 420-SEL. Brought it to a local repair shop to see if he could find it. He said it was seeping from around a large hex-head bolt, just above the pan, but not knowing Mercedes transmissions, was reluntant to touch it.
After printed out a picture of transmission and showing it to him, it looks like the seeping is from the large plug that holds the Brake B thrust element. Any issues with removing the bolt and replacing the o-rings myself? His concern is my concern, what is behind the bolt that may be difficult to replace or cause additional damage? Thanks Brian |
Might require needle nose vise grips to remove the reaction valve where the o-rings are leaking.
& of course a large allen wrench to remove the plug. |
