Anyone ever replace the right control arm.. 2 bolts that hold the arm. I'm lost . Can't get the bolts out . the drive shaft is blocking one and the frame has me blocked on both sides on the other. I can cut and replace the one next to the drive shaft, by putting it in the other way , but the other one , I need to cut the frame under the back rightside door .. Anyone HELP!!!

Gary,

I guess you mean the rear trailing arm? If so you can get better access by dropng the sub frame mounts on both sides. I also had to unbolt the drive shaft at the differential end, be sure to mark it for alignment. Watch out for the brake hose, don't let the caliper dangle from it. you will also need a spring compressor to get things back together. be careful a lot of energy can be stored in a compressed spring!

83 300d turbo diesel

Gary, Sorry I cannot give any knowledgable advice for your problem.... but, I've found an 85 d turbo at a junk yard that runs but apparently someone slammed into the rear. After your experience with the 300d turbo do you have any advice. I've never driven diesel before and my car is a 1971 250 and my folks worry when i leave the neighborhood.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

85 d turbo

I enjoy my 83-300d . Best car I ever had . The control arm
was hard to replace . but it was from rust . I drive over 90 miles a day to and from work. It's all in how well the car was kept-up..
