Rear window defroster

Hello all!
The problem I have is that the rear window defroster does not really work. The reason I say doesn't really work is that it will defrost a feww inches from the bottom and thats it! Does thins mean if I want it to work I have to replace the entire back window? Any insights?

The heat paint buss is probably not continuous, could be on either side and in more than one place; usually from a scratch. It can be repaired using conductive paint sold for that purpose at autoparts stores.

Oh, I see...what's a heat paint buss? Is that the actual element on the window?

Still trying to figure it out!

Looked the rear window over and everything looks in order. Not that I would really know exactly what to look for but it looks ok. Any suggestions on what I might try to get it to work? Thanks!
