Try disconnecting the coolant overheat switch mounted on the side of your water pump. This switch sends a ground signal to the A/C clutch relay which will shut down the system until the key is cycled. These switches can get lazy and come on to soon. Another problem is caused by belt slippage, especially if the belly pan is missing and you drive thru a puddle. Just a thought.
