Here's a link to the Russian MB Club VIN# decoder.

VIN# Decoder

It will give you your chassis, engine, transmission and all the options used when your car was built.

Good luck with your sunroof Dee8go. When I put my sunroof seals in, the front one needed to be rolled in better than I had first done. It was hard to tell exactly how the new seal went in because the old one was so compressed and dried out it didn't look very much like the new one. After I finally got the seal in and the roof still wouldn't close all the way, I adjusted the roof panel position and it's fine now. I suspect it had been adjusted over the years to compensate for the compressed seal. When I replaced the seal I had to "undo" the previous adjustment. At least that's what I imagined. Maybe you have the same issues going on?

I put a new seal in the wifes' 400E almost 2 years ago, and it STILL needs help in laying down flat after the rear is raised. The 124's are such a simple fix, but that doggone thing just doesn't want to conform.

Thanks, John. I found the numbers and ordered the technical service manunal. If I can't figure o ut how to get the sunroof fixed after looking at that, I'll call you. I appreciate your offer. I will need to get together with you to map out whatever things I need to do maintenance-wise anyhow.

That sucks, that they have blocked the site at work. It seems like a reasonable place for a Mercedes technician to be logging onto.

Thanks, Chad. That's what it looks like. The old seal was like a black crust around the opening. I thought this was going to be something simple enough even for me to do! Well, I'll "Git 'er done!"

Anybody know the part number or even the name of the little nylon(?) pads on the track guides? I will need to get some more of those as I only have one now. I'm not sure wat the correct name for them is.

Dee8go,

Check this link and see what part you need. I think you want slide #113 in the bottom drawing which is part number: A1157830128.

But you might mean #140 which is part number:A1237820530 (left) or A1237820630 (right) depending on which side it's for.
