W201 Instrument cluster wiring diagram

I have a 1984 190D 2.2L and I'm assuming that the wiring to the instrument cluster is the same as the 190E. I lost the tach, fuel
gage and turn signal indicator lamps one day while driving. Does
anyone have the pinout for the back of the instrument cluster?
I didn't get much help in the diesel forum. Thanks.

Curt

Typically the two lighting bulbs in the instrument cluster work from the same power supply. if only one went out I would think it is only either a problem with the bulb itself, the bulb socket, or the board where the specific bulb is mounted. I can get you the wire diagram if you still need it and tell you the pin that runs the lights, but it is more complicated than that since the circuit that does the instrument lighting is continuous with the dimmer rheostat and the rest of the interior lights making it more involved than just applying power to the correct pin. The circuit is incomplete with the cluster out of the car. You can apply power directly to the holes in the back side of the actual bulb holders on the back of the cluster to make them light, typically both lights will turn on when one is powered. Just insert probes into the back side holes on the bulb holder and the bulbs will light when power is applied to test the bulbs

Thanks Chris. I was even thinking of running new wires just to get the thing to work. Is there an actual MB manual available that gives complete
wiring diagrams? I don't want to spend the big bucks on one but I might have to. I'm about ready to give up on this "project" otherwise.

So far, I've bought two manuals on Ebay that were no help and I've seen
a couple from the library that also were no help. If you have a pinout for
the plugs on the back of the cluster I would appreciate it or if you could
point me to where the correct electrical service manual can be bought.
Thanks.

There is an entire manual dedicated to the wire diagrams for each model car. The w201 book is all w201 model all years. i have one. It is called the Electrical Troubleshooting manual. I can look at the cluster pin out. It will take me a while, day or so. Are you used to reading wire diagrams? If so I could just email you the whole page, send me a pm with your email address
