I think everybody else covered the good. I'll add one to the bad list. I went on the cheap and bought a Durralast from a local shop. It must have been on the shelf for a while. After two weeks it gave me all kinds of problems. Those electrical gremlins that can drive one nuts. The blinkers would go nuts (blink at a rate many times normal), the sun roof wouldn't close when the car wasn't moving and the LCD screen would go dark. I almost took my car in to the dealership expecting a problem with the alternator when I decided to take the battery in to be tested. It was shot. Under the warranty they wouldn't give me my money back, they just gave me a new battery. It's been a few months and I haven't had a problem. But I certainly plan on buying a different brand when the time comes. I won't go the cheap route next time.

My experience with the Optima battery have been very positive. After having 1 VW factory battery explode and the replacement crack and leak all over, I did some research and decided on the Optima.

Granted, both the MB and my VW are diesels, one of the factors in deciding on the Optima was their vibration resistance and deep cycle capabilities. They are sealed and have a special spiral-cell design that makes them almost bullet-proof.

I found mine locally for around $125, which may or may not be a great deal...so when the time comes for a replacement for the MB battery, it will be an Optima.

Just my $0.02.
