Taking outside mirror apart
I want to change the motor that folds the outside mirror back against the car.
Has any one done this? I have a 1995 S 420. ChuckG |

The steps may be somewhat the same as I have dismantled several mirrors this month. I have a W126 that has a manual drivers door mirror.
Really annoying. I have the parts needed now to make my mirror a true remote. What I was doing taking apart the mirrors was to see if the motors in the passenger mirror would in fact fit the driver side. They do. With the W126 mirror I angled the glass inward as far as possible. Using a long pair of needle nose pliers and a small flat head screw driver I was able to disengage a circular wire that holds the glass to the body of the mirror. Practicing on a junk car gave me the courage to proceed on my own. After the wire is disengaged and the glass is removed, you have full access to the motors. |
