Too little information - "some sort of crack" could be about anything. Typically any repair to a leak is going to be temporarary at best. Post a picture if you can.

my experience MB radiators are not reparable unless you go to a MB shop with special tools. you can find a new radiator for about 150-170 dollars .. i tried having my cored and it was a no go .. call around to radiator shops they may have one laying on the shelf

Ive had a similar incident.

1. Check the condition of the motor mounts. If worn and there is alot of engine movement replace them! Its what causes the fan to cut away at the radiator.

2. The Radiator cant be repaired, ive asked around many shops but they say that repairing an aluminum radiator just isnt worth it and costs more to repair then replace (many estimated over $400) JB weld held up for 2 hours before the water pushed through again.

3.They are cheap for the gassers because they have a smaller radiator. So you may find many different brands from different suppliers for alot of $$$$

Save yourself the headache:
Autozone sells them for $200 with a lifetime warranty and they are oem Behr brand.

Why in the world would you push a car with yours? That's just asking for trouble.

Order a new radiator you can't fix them.

Sorry to clog the boards

3rd post in a different thread.

My 1996 E300 is eating radiators and my 2 motor mounts were changed before it ate the last radiator. Is there a chance my fan clutch is causing this or my radiator is ever so slightly out of adjustment?

thanks for suggestions

Want to put a tank in the trunk for WVO/SVO in the E300 Need to find a place to store my OIL!
Still procrastinating about the biodiesel/WVO
Made some biodiesel but so afraid to pour it all in - I've added some and think I'll supplement my fuel to see how I make out

Made some biodiesel but the process scares me - methanol fumes are not your friend! Need to do this outside.

I have a good used one I was going to post on ebay. I'll sell it to you if you need it. There's nothing wrong with it. New is always better of course, but if you're on a tight budget, used will do...
