The a\c doesn't work. It would be extremely helpful if I even knew how to turn it on!!!!!! If I run a jumper to the pump, the clutch will engage. Jumping out the switch on the dryer/collector doesn't do anything so I don't think that's the problem. I have the original shop manuals in English. They're three feet thick and nowhere outside of one wiring diagram is there any mention of the existence of air conditioning. No amount of playing around with the dashboard will so much as activate the clutch on the pump.

I gather it's a Euro model? Does it have MB A/C or an aftermarket system ("Diava" was a popular one)? What do the controls look like? Does it have the four sliders and two round knobs on the panel?

Yes, this is a European car. The panel has the four sliders, one round knob for the fan, and two switches, one red and the other black. I had intended to include a picture of the panel in my original post, but the instructions for doing so (per FAQ's) are wholly incomprehensible.
