The front sensor won't make it stall. The Crankshaft Position Sensor going from the flywheel to the Ignition Control Module will. It sends a low voltage to the ICM while the starter is turning the engine over, then the voltage increases when the engine starts. As you can see in the photo, one end plugs into the ICM and the other end sticks down into the flywheel area and can become dirty.
