I recently purchased an 86 560 sel and was wondering if the rpm relative to speed was normal--2500 at 75 mph? Also is it easy to change the transmission shifter console light? Thanks again for any assistance.

That sounds about right. Remove the console trim panel. The light is in a fitting at the front of the shifter mechanism.
