1972 220D 4CYL. DIESEL 4SPD
I've traced the blue generator field wire into the passenger compartment/drivers side.Where does the wire get it's power to energize the gen. field?I can jump voltage and get it to charge. Thanks T.K. Shields

I it comes from the "alt/battery" light within the inst cluster. If the bulb is burned out you will have your situation. The bulb gets its power from the ignition switch.
