DTC codes for 90 300TE-also gas mileage issue
 

Hi guys,
I have done some serious searching and cannot seem to find the DTC codes for a 1990 300TE with M103 engine. I accidently bought an M104 manual a while back that has a great section of dtc codes, but that doesnt help me.

The CEL has come on, and I am getting an 11 blink code.

This car was in a low impact accident a couple of years ago. After getting the car rolling again..it runs fine..maybe a little less power...but the gas mileage dropped from around 18 to around 13 in city driving. On the highway...it is getting around 24.

The gas mileage issue has been since it was back in service over a year ago. The cel is a new problem..but hoping possibly that it could have something to do with the terrible gas mileage.

I did find a post a couple of years ago that would have had those codes..but it seems this website had killed the jpg attachments at some point.

Air Injection system fault

Thanks Arthur...I really do appreciate that.

Now...what is an "Air Injection Sytem" problem :) Sounds like the air filter, but I would imagine it has to do with a sensor?

Doing a search now. No joy.

Any help on what to look at, or look for?

Emiisions Air Pump fault....

Try a search for "air pump", "air injection system", etc. - lots of info.

I had done a search for air injection system and got way too many hits. I went through many of them and none were related. The problem is that it gives you every thing with the word "air" "injection" "system"...I tried to put them in quotes so that I would only get hits with all three words but that did not work. Guess I am still not too computer savvy.

I am trying air pump now...or rather pump..but I am sure I will get lot of fuel pump hits with that. I will dig. Argh...water pump is the hit with this search.

Um..for you guys in the know..how do you perform a search that gives you relevant hits?

Nice job, Arthur..great write up on the problem. I will dig into the problem after the holidays.

So this air injection thing is about injecting air into the exhaust during intial warm up to get the cat hot quicker for better early startup emissions?

And this being a Calif car...wonder what else they did..lol.

In terms of passing the smog test...should be no problem as none of this stuff is on when the car is hot...I just need to clear the cel before the test ;)

Also..you showed me how to search...I need to add that plus sign "+" between the two search words to link them together.
